Exceptionally large and vigorous plants with striking black pseudostems. Highly resistant to most pests and diseases. Primarily for ornamental use, but fruit can be eaten, though it will contain many soft, partially formed seeds. Excellent for any non-fruit use (leaves, imu stump, flower bud eating, fiber arts…) A semi-domesticated form of Musa balbisiana.
